Trump’s Attacks on the Press

According to A.G. Sulzberger, Editor-in-Chief of the New York Times, the US has done a lot of damage to the press and he believes that President Trump’s language is not only divisive, but is becoming more and more dangerous and his growing attacks on the media are incendiary, dangerous and harmful to the United States.

Sulzberger took the reins of the New York Times on January 1 this year and, after a request from the White House, met with Trump on July 20. That session, in which James Bennet, NYT editorial page editor, also participated, was kept secret until Trump made it public through a tweet last Sunday morning.

Trump said: “I had a very good and interesting meeting at the White House with New York Times publisher A.G. Sulzberger. We spent a lot of time talking about the large amount of fake news published by the media & how ‘Fake News’ has become the ‘Enemy of the People’, Sad !, he concluded.

In a statement issued by the NYT, Sulzberger said the president’s tweet made the supposedly secret meeting public and he described what seemed to be an unusually hard and blunt encounter with the president. Sulzberger concluded: “I told the president directly that I thought his language was not only divisive, but increasingly dangerous.”

Addendum: I am only trying to document the fact that Trump is not only dangerous, but evil and a liar.
