I will try to make a list of the main members of Trump’s presidential cabinet and his advisers who will begin to function starting January 20 next year.
White House Chief of Staff: Reince Priebus.
The current Chair of the Republican National Committee will control access to the President and give him advice.
White House Chief Strategist – Steve Bannon.
He was CEO of a far-right media outlet and worked for Goldman Sachs before setting up his own media-focused investment bank. He sold the company to ultra conservatives Andrew Breithart and Peter Shneizer, and so there is a long list of Jewish groups and Democratic leaders who have criticized and challenged his appointment.
Attorney General – Senator Jeff Sessions.
He was the first senator to support the President-elect and is a staunch critic of immigration reform. He may have trouble with the confirmation of his appointment because of the still on-going accusation that he made racist comments when he was a prosecutor in Alabama.
National Security .- Michael Flynn
He is a retired Army Lieutenant General and former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency who was Trump’s senior military adviser during the campaign. When he retired from the Army he came out against Obama for being soft on terrorism. Flynn believes ISIS is a global threat and has called for a more aggressive US military strategy. In August of this year he declared that Islam is a ‘political ideology’ hiding behind a religion.
Director of the CIA.- Mike Pompeo.
He is a conservative Republican who has a great deal in common with Trump. He has criticized the Iran nuclear deal as well as Hillary Clinton for the attack on a diplomatic post in Libya and for the use of her personal email for intelligence affairs. In addition, he has condemned Snowden to death as a traitor to his country.
Secretary of Commerce – Wilbur Ross (age 79)
He is a multimillionaire and investor known for acquiring bankrupt companies in the steel and coal industries and then selling them for big profits. He is nicknamed ‘The King of Bankruptcy’ and his story is very similar to Trump’s.
Secretary of Homeland Security (Pentagon) – John Kelly.
Trump has just nominated the third general for his cabinet, John Kelly, who would be the second general to head the Pentagon in the history of the United States. George Marshall was the first to hold that post in 1950.
Secretary of Defense.- James Mattis
A retired Marine Corps General, Mattis led troops in the Middle East and Southeast Asia from 2010 to 2013. Nicknamed ‘Mad Dog,’ he has an interest in everything related to Iran but he needs special congressional approval, since there is a law that prevents any general from being Secretary of Defense for 7 years after his official resignation from office in the military.
Secretary of Education.- Betsy De Vos
A rich Republican donor from the state of Michigan, she supports alternatives to local public schools so that taxes can be used to allow parents to opt out of the public education system.
Secretary of Health and Human Services – Tom Price
A representative from Georgia and former orthopedic surgeon, he was a harsh critic of President Obama’s health care reform, even though it has provided health insurance coverage for more than 20 million working-class Americans.
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development – Ben Carson
A retired neurosurgeon who is the only black member of the Trump cabinet, he was born in a poor neigborhood in Detroit, is very religious and lacks experience in public office. He was nominated to try to reach the marginal areas of major US cities.
Secretary of Labor.- Andrew Puzder.
CEO of CKE Restaurants and former owner of Carl’s Jr and Hardee’s, he opposes increasing the minimum wage and supports the use of technologies to save costs and eliminate jobs.
Secretary of Transportation – Elaine Chao.-
She was Secretary of Labor and Deputy Secretary of Transportation under the presidency of George W. Bush (2001 – 2009). Born in Taiwan, she is the first Asian-American in Trump’s cabinet. She is also the wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Secretary of the Treasury – Steven Mnuchin.
A Wall Street veteran who was a partner at Goldman Sachs before setting up an investment fund backed by George Soros, he is a supporter of the Democrats and a Hollywood film financier.
Ambassador to the UN- Nikky Haley.
She is the Governor of South Carolina. She removed the confederate flag from public buildings during the race riots in the state. She is the daughter of Indian emigrants and criticized Trump during the campaign
Environmental Protection Agency. – Scott Pruitt.
He is Oklahoma’s attorney general and a supporter of the fossil fuel industry. He fought against the agency he is now going to head.
Small Business Administration – Linda McMahon.
She has served twice as a Connecticut senator and will head the agency that supports 28 million small businesses that employ 25% of the economically active population of the United States.
Secretary of State – It is a fact that Rex Tillerson will be nominated.
Tillerson is President and CEO of Exxon Mobil, the largest oil company in the United States and the second largest company in the world, after Shell Oil owned by an Anglo-Dutch company.
Addendum: Although there are some important positions to be filled, such as the State Department, Agriculture, Energy and Veterans Affairs, the fact is that a broad base of leaders has already been nominated in which retired military men, billionaires who believe they are superior beings and the white sector of the population that is most backward in political, cultural and scientific terms.
All of them are led by an individual who is mentally ill, without the slightest idea of how to govern a nation and who knows even less about how to lead it peacefully and successfully in a new world order that has already completely changed almost all the myths that caused the West to be the global leader for over two hundred years.
